Our logo and funnel mark carry history

Tschudi Shipping has long traditions and family history from 1883.

Our funnel mark and logo also carry history.

The Tschudi family originates from Switzerland and the funnel mark is therefore based on the coat of arms of Zurich, displayed on a red belt, combining the Swiss symbol with the Norwegian colours.

This was first introduced in 1896 on the Norwegian steamship, MV Uto as a gesture to the vessel's Swiss shareholders.

Here you see our funnel mark on MV Albis sailing in Chinese waters.

MV Uto was employed with cattle transportation between the West Indies and the east coast of America.  This new vessel was so successful that a second ship was ordered and money again raised in Switzerland. The next ship was delivered in 1897 and named “Albis” after another Swiss mountain.

As you see above the Tschudi logo is a personal logo - combining the family name with a flag  from the original funnel mark from 1896.
